Foot Update

Some of you have asked how the foot is . . . well yesterday at the doctors - I was told NOT to put weight on it and use the crutches for another week. Anyone used crutches?? They are a pain! and I am stubborn! I painted my toe nails to make them look pretty and draw attention from the purple/black of my foot - I think the nail polish made it look green!! My big toe is what hurts the worst and it will not bend, so walking is out of the question. I'd love your prayers for quick healing, and obedience to my doctor.

Today John Michael had his first field trip to the KC Pumpkin Patch - it was great fun. This was his FAVORITE event. We really didn't have to see much else, except for the train below. Inside the barn they had all this corn & TONS of trucks & tractors - HIS DREAM WORLD. I'm thinking about creating a rubbermaid bin with corn for his trucks - I think he'd really like that for the LONG winter months.
Here he is picking through what was left of the pumpkins. They were supposed to do this field trip last Monday, but it was POURING down rain, so we were left with slim pickings. Thanks to my mom for going with me today - I didn't even get off the hayride tractor to go WAY out to what was left of the pumpkins.
Here was his equally favorite activity . . . the train ride. He never wanted to get off. The driver knew his name and would ask him after each time around if he was going again . . . of course!

It was a gorgeous day and we had fun. It was a really neat place for kids - they had SO many more things to do like duck races, bunnies, pigs, corn maze, hay maze, slides, etc. What fun!

GO COLTS!

Isabelle is so excited for the Colts! She wanted to make sure you could read Manning!

This week is a BIG week for Indy fans as we watch the undefeated Colts take on the undefeated Patriots - it is sure to be an amazing game! We have huge hearts here for the Colts & Isabelle has taken herself up with Peton Manning. After we come home from church on Sundays, our kids say, "It's football Sunday" - they love to watch with us, it makes for a fun family day. We do however get away from the TV to play our own games of football

JM dressses in this every Sunday and we have real football games in the living room. If we take a break, he says "Come on, I want someone to tackle me!"

Turkey Day

We added a new member to our family today! He is 4 feet wide & 4 feet long, weighing approx. 25 lbs - no it isn't a DOG!! This was Kevin's first Turkey - thanks to his childhood friend David Ray for taking him on a great hunt! It was a blast for him - he loves being in nature & to get your first Turkey is a thrill! We are all SO excited for him, and the kids are pumped to have a Turkey in our family room.

My 2 Best Friends

My husband has always been my best friend, but now he has to share me with a pair of crutches! After school yesterday, I took a great tumble with John Michael in my arms - it was a "Slow Motion" type experience. I knew I was going down, he was in my arms, I feared the worst for him, etc. I probably stumbled 6-7 steps trying to regain my composure, before we both hit the ground! I was thanking God that JM wasn't hurt but some scraps and bruises, but me on the other hand . . . My right foot was throbbing. . .I had to drive home with cruise control on (we live about 15 min. from Isabelle's school) crying the whole way b/c the pain was intense. Kevin met me there and insisted we go to the ER - though the bruising/swelling had not really shown itself yet, the pain was terrible. After 3 hours in the ER - we had great time to talk & met a really neat Christian nurse who was such a blessing to us, we found out nothing was broken. "YIPEE!!!", I cried. To which she grimaced, and said, "It really would have been better if it were broken. What you have is going to require 2 days of rest - leg above heart type, ace bandage compression, ice, and 2 weeks of crutches. These type of injuries usually take 6-12 months to completely heal." "Are you sure?" I quickly retorted. I'm having a hard time seeing how a break is worse, but I can tell you after having just whacked my foot on something, the pain is INTENSE!! They say you should be able to laugh at yourself so I am, I was totally embarrased at school & I wanted to share the beginning of my bruising with you - the swelling isn't bad today, I've been good about my leg up, ice, compression routine!!

Cowboy, Bull Rider or mere human

JM reminds me daily that the bull riders wore cowboy hats - he wants to make sure I know how manly he is. He gallops around saying "I'm a cowboy, yes I am. I'm a cowboy, yes I am."

A few funny JM stories . . . Last week, he informed me that I am not human. He said "Mom, me & dad are humans - what are you?" I replied "I'm a human too." To which he responded, "NO, I'm a human you are a lady!" I tried to explain that all those words refer to humans, but to NO avail. I am not human!! In case anyone was worried about me - we now have proof!

Yesterday, I caught him reading a Landscaping Supply magazine in the bathroom, I'm sure you can figure out why else he was in there. Anyway, I said, "What are you doing buddy?" To which, he looked at me with sheepish eyes, shrugged his shoulders and said "readin' a magazine." I was trying so hard not to laugh as I said "Why?" Again with such innocence, "Daddy does (pronounced w/ a long U sound) it" And that was that, they sure do watch and copy EVERYTHING!!!
He's our little ham!!

Here he watches the P.B.R. with great intensity!

Cowgirl

Here are a few shots of Isabelle sporting her new PINK cowgirl hat - she LOVES it!!! She really got into everything about the PBR & American Royal (see the posts below). On a side note, our little cowgirl has her first loose tooth - it is moving, so she is afraid to eat anything . . . It really isn't too loose, but boy is she pumped - she is the last one of her friends to lose a tooth and she was beginning to think it wasn't going to happen!
TOO CUTE!!! I LOVE THESE KIDS!!

This picture is at the PBR watching the riders!
